Kensington Mini Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod Review

August 4, 2009 by Carlos Eduardo · Leave a Comment

kensingtonThe iPhone 3G and 3GS suck juice big time. If you have 3G on, you will, if you make calls be at half mast mid through your day. This is not good. If you play games… same thing.

As we all know, you can’t replace the battery on the iPhone or iPods, so what’s one to do? Well not too long ago I reviewed the Mophie Juice Pack Air, which although worked, was not that sturdy.

In the quest for the ideal solution, thefore, I bought the Kensington Mini Battery Pack and Charger for the iPhone .

Let me cut to the chase. It isn’t a product I can recommend, at least not for the iPhone.

First of all, it can barely take an iPhone battery at half mast to full mast, but not always. The capacity just isn’t big enough.

Second of all, because it sticks out, it makes your iPod connection very susceptible to damage, as any accidental knock would rip out or bend the pins. Not great if you have kids.

Third of all, the protector for the dock connection of the charger is easily lost leaving the whole thing exposed to breakage.

As much as I think the Mophie has its issues, I think it is the better solution.
