Hi

I have problems with Skype on my desktop - freezes my mouse and doesn't let me into the internet unless I switch it off! - so I have decided to get a netbook to use as a Skype audio-visual phone to keep in touch with our daughter and family in UK (we are in South Africa) and we regularly travel around SA so we would usw it to stay in touch. Problem is that I have yet to read any good reviews on Skype reception on the NS10, only comments about low and tinny sound, poor videos etc. Have you any comments on this, is it worth buying considering that I would hardly use it for anything else?

Regards

Hi,

I also got Ubuntu (9.04 Netbook remix) on my NC10, I'm quite happy with it. I was actually wondering about battery life using Ubuntu, so I came across your blog. Some comments, I found that Skype worked out-of-the-box, I first had problems, but it turned out to be a configuration issue with the input/output sound device (try all possibilities, one will work). The issue with the battery is due to a setting in the bios, you can change it there. Yes, I also observed problems after suspend when waking it up, haven't found any hints how to solve it so far :( . Otherwise I really like the setup with Ubuntu :) .

Best
